Comments: Scott- Great website , found out about it via phone call from Fred Hareland from CA. we served together on the " Mack" back in 69-70. I left the McMorris as an EM-5 in Oct '70 returning to my home town of Tonawanda N.Y. , I will always have fond memories of crossing the Equator, visiting Tahiti, Pago-Pago, and good friends from "R" Division. Comments: Scott, congratulations on doing an absolutely wonderful job on this site! I haven't forgotten about the films, photos, and other "stuff". The summer just got a little busier than I expected; had to put the uniform back on (with a nice new fourth stripe th ugh) and make two trips to Toulon FR to figure out why the USS LA SALLE (AGF 3) is costing us twice what was estimated to overhaul her (she's over 35 years old and in a French shipyard - DUH!). I'll miss the reunion, the Joint Task Force Commanders Confer nce is taking place that week, and as the Command Ships/JCC(X) Program Manager it is a "command performance" for me and most of my staff. Maybe I'll get to the next one. In the meantime, I'll get busy on providing you with some more "goodies" for the site

Comments: What a thrill finding this website. (via Hotbot) Admiral McMorris was a distant relative - my grandmother was L. Edith McMorris, born in 1895. Her father was John Allen McMorris who I believe is a brother to the Admiral's father. Don't have that name bu would love to mark it on the family tree if anyone can provide it. When I was commissioned in 1971, my grandmother proudly gave me snapshots she had taken of the "Mac." I have have them in a curio with lots of other Navy memorabiia. I retired in 1998 a a Supply Corps Captain, serving 27+ years. Served as a middie in USS COGSWELL, USS DULUTH, as A/D officer in USS NIAGARA FALLS, USS MOUNT BAKER, USS PELELIU. Look forward to visiting the site again soon.

Comments: Found this site from one of the USNI links. This brings back the memories. Especially the SPECOPS, tailing the Ruskies for weeks at a time, Missile burn-up in the atmosphere, 40 degree plus rolls while DIW, Sully's great chow, Midway "liberty", crossing the Equator for the first and subsequent times. Reported aboard as RM2 and enjoyed working the long range communications links for the CTs.

I was reading some of the comments in the guestbook and one in particular really brought back memories. The shakedown cruise prior to commissioning. After 2-3 months of living in a barracks we had all lost our sea-legs and were really sick. I'm sure I have told that story to all of my family and most of my friends.

Comments: One of a handful of polywogs that crossed 6/6/67 Golden shellback 2/20/70, crossed many times between. I can now say I had a good time. I thought I was gonna die of old age aboard that boat. 4yrs. as a deck ape. Shipped on sm2 out bm2. Ate a lot of redlead. Anybody remember the Russian ships we "messed with"? Comments: Great site that brings back many memories! Sure had many adventures on the "Steamon Demon". Great WestPacs, not so great SpecOps, etc.. I remember working lots of hours in the Ship's Office, also having a hand in the ships newspaper. Anyone remember " other ships get newspapers at sea, all we get is the shaft"?
